Spurred by losing its first two games, the Terrapin volleyball team is taking measures to ensure that in its first home matches, its fans won't witness a repeat performance.
"We're working on changing the look of the program," coach Tim Horsmon said. "We're pretty intense every single day, training to be great every day. We're not there yet, but we'll get there."
The Terps (1-2) host the Spring Hill Suites at Arundel Mills Invitational starting today, when they play Missouri at 7 p.m. On Saturday, they face St. John's at 10 a.m. and then Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. to close out the tournament.
All three opponents made last year's NCAA tournament. This season, the Tigers are 2-1, the Red Storm 2-2 and the Wildcats 3-1 - all better records than the Terps'. But Horsmon, who came from the Midwest as the former Dayton head coach, said he is familiar with these teams and players.
"[This tournament] could be revealing in a lot of ways. We've got some great teams coming in," he said. "I just hope we play as hard as we can for every point."
