The Terrapin men's basketball team will play 14 games against teams that made the postseason last year, according to the official schedule released Thursday by the athletics department.
The Terps' 2010-11 slate features six nationally televised games, including a Feb. 2 home game on ESPN against defending national champion Duke.
The Terps first tip off Nov. 1 with an exhibition game against Florida Southern at Comcast Center and begin the defense of their shared ACC regular season championship when they host Boston College on Dec. 12.
The team visits Duke on Jan. 9, the first game between the two since the Terps beat the Blue Devils on Senior Night in early March.
The Terps are set to face North Carolina, another ACC power, in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Feb. 27.
The Terps host Virginia Tech on Jan. 20 and then Clemson two days later. They play at Virginia on Jan. 27 and at Georgia Tech on Jan. 30. N.C. State and Florida State will come to College Park on Feb. 20 and 23, respectively.
Home games against Seattle and Charleston open the Terps' season as part of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer in early November. The Terps then head to New York City for the national round of the tournament, held on Nov. 18 and 19. Those games, against Pittsburgh and then either Illinois or Texas, will be televised on ESPN2 and played at Madison Square Garden.
"The 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer is a very good tournament," coach Gary Williams said in a release Thursday. "Starting with our first two games at home, then in New York you have a Big 12, Big Ten and Big East team with us. That will be one of the top tournaments in November this season."
Penn State hosts the Terps in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 1, another game that will be televised on ESPN2.
Four days later, the Terps play Temple at Verizon Center in Washington as part of the BB&T Classic.
"Our nonconference schedule is as tough as any we've played since I've been here," Williams said. "This will give us a chance to become a better basketball team as we head forward to conference play."
A CBS-televised Jan. 15 showdown at Villanova also highlights the Terps' nonconference schedule, which features additional matchups against Delaware State, Elon, UNC Greensboro, NJIT, North Florida, Colgate and Longwood.
