Educators ponder role in counseling
When the shooter who killed 32 students at Virginia Tech Monday penned gruesome pieces about murder and pedophilia in English classes there, faculty referred him to counseling. As the public debating Cho Seung-Hui, who was known in classes for his violent and profanity-laced writing, wonder whether his killing spree may have been foreshadowed; education experts are asking themselves questions: Where is the line between creative expression and the musings of a deranged mind? What should be done when a student writes disturbing prose? Could teachers prevent another tragedy?
