A Maryland student was robbed by three males on Princeton Avenue early Thursday morning during his walk back from a bar, the victim and police said.

Chris Booze, a junior biochemistry major, had his cell phone, wallet and keys taken from him as he was walking home along the 7500 block of Princeton Avenue at about 12:45 a.m. Thursday, he said.

According to Booze's account, he was returning from the Thirsty Turtle and talking on his cell phone when three males approached him. One grabbed him from behind and held "something" to his head.

"I'm not sure if it was a gun," Booze said. "I think he wanted me to think it was, though."

The male took Booze's cell phone and demanded his money. As he reached into his pocket, the second male grabbed at Booze's pocket and pulled out his wallet and keys. Booze asked if he could at least have his keys back, and the second male then threw the keys on the ground.

The three males took off running, Booze said, and got into a black SUV parked near the corner of College and Princeton Avenues.

Booze said the third male involved did not play a role in the actual robbery.

Ethan Teichman, a senior American studies major who lives near where the robbery occurred, said he found Booze's wallet on the ground close to his house shortly after the incident took place. He said he alerted Booze via Facebook that he had found the wallet.

There was no money in the wallet when he found it, Teichman added.

According to a crime alert sent out by the University Police, the victim was not injured during the incident.

University Police spokesman Paul Dillon could not comment further on the incident because the Prince George's County Police Department is conducting the investigation.

According to the crime alert, no suspect descriptions are available.

"The first guy had something over his face, a scarf or mask or something," Booze said. "I couldn't tell what he looked like."

Booze did mention, however, "I don't think they were students."

Cpl. Arvel Lewis, a Prince George's County Police spokesman, was on assignment when contacted and could not comment on the incident.
