Mandatory SGA elections meeting
Elections are right around the corner! The Student Government Association is currently seeking students to run for positions in next year's SGA.
The SGA serves as the primary organization to represent all undergraduate students at the university. It is responsible for allocating student fees and lobbying for student interests both on the campus and in the surrounding community. SGA legislators are elected from every academic college and living community. SGA executives, including the student body president, represent the undergraduate population as a whole.
If you are a motivated student who seeks to have a positive impact on the university and its students, please consider running for election. In order to be eligible to run, you must attend the information session Tuesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. in JMZ 0122.
Please visit www.sga.umd.edu for further information, or feel free to contact me with any questions at umd.sga.elections@gmail.com.

Is Nut Butter worth it?
To put it bluntly, the comic "Nut Butter" sucks and has been in steady decline this past year. While growing up, I had the privilege of enjoying great comics such as "Calvin and Hobbes" and "Dilbert." While I do not expect the same artistic level from a comic strip in a student newspaper, "Nut Butter" is well below the high standard set by The Diamondback's content. A comic should first and foremost be entertaining; it should also provide relevant social commentary on subjects that the majority of its audience can relate to. "Dilbert" is a great comic because it deals with a subject matter the majority of its readers can relate to, office life. The same is true with "Calvin and Hobbes" - the comic strip consistently provided subject matter the audience could relate to, such as the hardships of everyday life and the small pleasures that it can provide. It was made entertaining because it was expounded by a 6-year-old boy and his stuffed tiger.
However, the comic strip "Nut Butter" provides none of this. Aside from the occasional appearance of a three-headed fraternity guy, it provides little content students can relate to in an entertaining manner.
From the constant appearance of new characters such as the asinine "Rigamaroos" to the simple one-liners stating that "Butter is a penis," this comic provides neither unique and entertaining content nor content that is relevant to the majority of The Diamondback readers. The students who read this newspaper deserve a comic that satirizes issues that are relevant to themselves and the university, or, at the very least, a comic that is entertaining and worth the 10 seconds it takes to read.

I agree, Nut Butter is horrible. What is Ironic is that Mike O'Brien depends on fraternities in order to make his cartoon funny, although he obviously doesn't like them. (Continued…)

I concur wholeheartedly that Nut Butter sucks, and the 30 or 40 people today to whom I mentioned this letter unanimously agree. Nut Butter's all like "Guys! Guys! Guys! Guys! A penis! I have one! And I like to touch it! And chicks totally dig me, totally, I swear! Also, fuck you. (Continued…)

I agree with the above statements, Nut Butter is a complete waste of space in the DiamondBack newspaper. They need to find another comic strip like Thomas Dobrosielski and his 'Not From Concentrate', something that actually makes you laugh because it it is actually funny. (Continued…)
