Running backs carry Terps in Red-White exhibition

For all the intrigue surrounding the quarterbacks on the Terrapin football team this spring, it was the running backs who stole the show in Saturday's Red-White spring game.
Sophomore Da'Rel Scott showed off his speed, rushing for 113 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries despite a 75-yard touchdown run being nullified by a penalty. Bruising sophomore Morgan Green also ran well as White beat Red 27-3.
"Our running backs ran hard today," coach Ralph Friedgen said. "I think you saw what kind of a long ball shot that Scott can be."
As for the quarterbacks, the Terps' four signal callers avoided mistakes but did little in terms of standing out. Neither of the top candidates, Jordan Steffy and Chris Turner, played well enough to separate himself from the pack.
And so another spring season ends with Friedgen not having named a starter.
"I really didn't think any of them had the day I was hoping for," Friedgen said. "I'm looking for some guy to separate, and I really can't see that right

After taking in another Red White game at Byrd on Saturday, I say we're looking at another 6-6 or 7-5 type year, given the very mediocre play of all of our QBs. (Continued…)

I agree with jimbo56, they looked like an overall better team. Players were chasing after each other and competing hard. The QBs are kinda off key but that can be due to the "under the microscope" thing. (Continued…)
