THE ROOTS RELOCATE

In what could be its best (or worst) career move, The Roots is reportedly halting touring in March - hopefully not for good - to become Jimmy Fallon's house band when he takes over Conan O'Brien's late-night NBC spot. An announcement confirming the rumor has since been pulled from YouTube. If it's true, this is great news for Fallon - could you imagine drummer Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson as Fallon's Max Weinberg or Paul Schaffer? Maybe he'd reinvent the comedic drumbeat.

ELVIS COSTELLO TAKES OVER TV

The Sundance Channel gave Elvis Costello his own music/talk show, Spectacle: Elvis Costello With..., which premieres on Dec. 3 featuring Elton John, and it only gets better from there. Each show features Costello interpreting his guest's song, chatting with the guest and the guest playing a song (sometimes with Costello's assistance). Other guests include Lou Reed, The Police, Herbie Hancock, Bill Clinton and a monster episode with Momofuku collaborators She & Him and Jenny Lewis, as well as Jakob Dylan. If you can't wait until Dec. 3, then you can also check out Costello as a guest on A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All!, which premieres Nov. 23 on Comedy Central and features a star-studded reading of "(What's So Funny 'bout) Peace, Love And Understanding."

NEW BEATLES

Any mention of "The Beatles" and "unreleased" in the same sentence is enough to get people salivating. So when Paul McCartney starts talking about an unearthed, unreleased 14-minute psychedelic Beatles jam, you better believe we're listening. According to The Guardian, the 1967 recording, "Carnival of Light," was left off the Beatles' Anthology series because John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr deemed it too adventurous, even by their standards. Meaning: Drugs - the psychedelic kind - were probably involved. If McCartney gets the blessing of Starr and widows Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison, we too may get to hear the free-form and avant-garde piece.
