Maryland voters made history yesterday by electing the state's second Republican governor since the 1960s: Anne Arundel businessman Larry Hogan.

Democratic opponent Anthony Brown took an early lead as results began pouring in from the Maryland Board of Elections around 9 p.m. last night. But that gap narrowed quickly and, by 9:30 p.m., Hogan had secured a slight lead of his own with 367 of 1,986 precincts reported.

He never lost it.
