As the storm set in Friday and continued through Saturday morning, word of a snowball fight spread across the campus, bringing students to McKeldin Mall and pitting upperclassmen (defending the South Campus side of the mall) against underclassmen (fighting for North Campus). When the fight was scheduled to begin, almost 3,000 people were planning to attend; in the end, hundreds made it to the mall to participate.
