The Terrapin men's basketball team's ACC schedule isn't due to be officially released until later this week. But thanks to Raycom Sports, the Terps' conference slate is starting to take shape.
A tentative 2011 ACC basketball broadcast schedule from the sports programming syndicator and the league's official broadcast partner leaked to the Internet this weekend, unveiling the times and dates for seven games from the Terps' conference schedule.
According to the schedule, which has since been removed, the Terps open up ACC play at Wake Forest on Jan. 12. They host Clemson 10 days later as ACC play returns to Comcast Center for the first time since the Terps' thrilling victory over Duke in their final home game last season.
Conference play resumes as the Terps host Wake Forest on Feb. 5 before they hit the road to face Boston College on Feb. 12 and then Virginia Tech on Feb. 15. Florida State visits the Terps on Feb. 23, and the Terps host Virginia on March 5.
The released television schedule does leave some questions unanswered. The Terps will host Boston College, Duke, N.C. State and Virginia Tech and play at Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina and Virginia at some point during the season, but exactly when will be unknown until the ACC officially announces the schedule.
ACC officials did not return calls to confirm the times and dates of the matchups.
Raycom's release of part of the conference schedule further clarifies the Terps' 2010-11 slate, parts of which have been made public in recent months.
The Terps will play Seattle on Nov. 8 and Charleston on Nov. 10 in College Park in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. The Terps are also guaranteed a spot in the tournament's championship round at Madison Square Garden, where they will face Pittsburgh on Nov. 18. Should they beat Pitt, they will face the winner of a matchup between Illinois and Texas. A loss to the Panthers will put the Terps in the consolation game.
The Terps' trip to New York City will be their third time playing in the tournament. They won the 2006 event, defeating Michigan State, 62-60.
The team heads to University Park, Pa., to face Penn State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 1 and will play Temple in the BB&T Classic four days later at the Verizon Center.
North Florida will come to Comcast Center on Dec. 29. Several nonconference games have also yet to be announced.
