Paul Ricci, the Terrapins men's basketball team's strength and conditioning coach for the past three years, announced yesterday he was stepping down to accept a similar position at Texas Tech.

Ricci, whose official title was director of basketball performance, came to this university after nine years with the NFL's Baltimore Ravens. He had previously worked on the strength and conditioning staffs of the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks and MLB's San Diego Padres.

"We certainly wish him well," a spokesman for the athletic department wrote in an email.

During his tenure with the Terps, Ricci was known for his high-intensity workout routines that focused on maximizing balance and flexibility.

Ricci, whose last day at the university was Monday, will begin at Texas Tech next week, according to reports.
