When senior criminology and criminal justice major Kamthorn "Oot" Clary headed down to Route 1 for a trip to the bank, he didn't expect any more excitement than a new ATM card. He was wrong.

Instead, he saw police arrest a man they said was under the influence of the drug PCP at the GameStop in College Park Shopping Center at 4:27 p.m. yesterday. No one was injured, but the man was taken to a local hospital, according to Prince George's County Police spokesman Cpl. Larry Johnson.

The man has not been charged, and police had not yet identified him as of last night.

Clary, who was watching the scene from outside GameStop, said he approached the store window and saw a man who appeared to be high on drugs playing Rock Band in the store, with items strewn across the floor.

"He looked pretty f----ed up," he said. "His pupils were all dilated."

Clary said two officers entered the store and tried to calmly talk to the man, who Clary said responded by shouting profanity and then finally "flipping a shit." The man threw the guitar at the window and began throwing things off store displays, according to Clary.

Clary said the officers kept their distance but pulled out their batons when the situation escalated, and a third officer then entered the store. Clary said he saw the man take off his belt and wave it menacingly at the officers, though police did not confirm Clary's account of the incident last night.

An officer then pulled out a stun gun, according to Clary, who pulled out his cell phone to capture the action on video.

In Clary's footage, the man is shown stepping back away from the officers and then trying to retreat to the back of the store as one of the officers fires his stun gun. Clary said the man was taken out of the store on a gurney, at which time one of the officers turned his attention to Clary.

"They just came out and were like, ‘Where's the kid with the camera?'And I was just like, ‘Oh shit! I'm in trouble,'" Clary said.

But officers just took his statement and a copy of the footage for evidence and let him go.

"I'm a senior, and I've seen a lot of crazy things in my four years here," Clary said. "I never thought I'd see somebody get Tasered from literally 10 feet away."
